Microsoft’s 7 Patty Burger King Whopper – The Mother of All Whoppers!

Yes, you read the headline correctly. Microsoft and Burger King in Japan are offering consumers a 7-patty Whopper burger! It’s part of the computer technology corporation and fast food restaurant’s new cross promotion of Microsoft’s new operating system, Windows 7.

Luckily the artery-clogger was only available for 7 days to the first 30 customers at chains around the country. The 2,120-calorie burger weighed 1.7 pounds with a diameter of 5 inches, at give or take $15.90 depending on the currency exchange rate.

It may be a clever campaign, but is it a responsible one?

What do you think of the Windows 7 Whopper?

Anti-Soda Ad Campaign – See Shocking Video

A couple of months ago the New York City Health Department launched their Don’t Drink Yourself Fat campaign with promotional and educational posters around the city informing city dwellers that drinking one can of soda a day is the equivalent of pouring 10 pounds of fat into your body over the course of a year. The city’s health officials have taken their campaign one step further with a nauseating television ad.

“Sugary Drinks Should Not Be Part of Our Everyday Diets” states the Dr Farley who is the NYC Health Commissioner.

Celeb Diet Doc…
Reminds me of the “smoking is glamorous ads” that showed former models smoking out of their trachea tubes. Make no mistake when you drink soda, you pack on fat.

What do you think of the ad?

Soda Tax – It’s about time!

will soda tax help obese nations

Barry Popkin, an international nutrition expert who has advised policy makers not only in the US but also around the world, says taxing surgery drinks the way cigarettes are currently taxed could help put an end to the obesity crisis plaguing most nations.

“I’d like a system where sugary drinks were taxed the most, diet drinks less and water not at all,” he told Reuters. “If that tax added even 15 or 20 percent to the cost, it would have a significant effect on weaning society off sugary drinks.”

Martin Kemp Uses Slim-Fast

Martin-Kemp-On-Slim-Fast

The 80s rock band Spandeau Ballet have been busy on their autumn tour. The middle-aged rockers didn’t just have to get their music act together after being in retirement for so long, but they also had to get their bodies in shape. Guitarist Martin Kemp told Closer Magazine that even though he looks great he’s had to really work at it to keep his shape. He said that as he gets older it’s harder to keep the weight off so he has upped his gym visits to four times a week for an hour each time. He’s also doing Slim-Fast. [Read more →]

Slim-Fast Recalls Millions of Diet Drinks

slim-fast recall

If you’ve got a Slim-Fast diet drink in your cupboard, you’d best chuck it out. Unilever is recalling all its Slim-Fast diet drinks and shakes because the consumer product company fears the dietary supplements may be contaminated with bacteria that could cause mild food poisoning.

The complete recall, however, only pertains to the liquid supplements packaged in cans or boxes and not the powered shakes or bars, but it includes about 10 million Slim-Fast products regardless of their UPC number, best-by date, flavor or late.

Pizza Diet?

a pizza diet

I don’t know about your but when I’m trying to lose weight, pizza is always the first thing I need to cut from my diet. And it’s also always the first thing I crave. Now, according to pizza shop owner Matt McClellan, you don’t have to give up the doughy delight.

Movie Popcorn Rated F for Fattening

movie popcorn could kill you

Who doesn’t love going to the movies? And a trip to the concession stand is second nature – there’s absolutely no way you will sit through a 2-hour movie without a large popcorn, soda and maybe a sour Skittles and Milk Duds. But while the Popcorn Board are touting popcorn as the healthiest option at cinemas because it’s a whole grain food low in calories and fat, a set of lab analysis by the Centre for Science in the Public Interest prove otherwise.

Did you know that a medium popcorn and soda combo at the country’s largest movie theater franchise, Regal, has 1 610 calories and 3 days’ worth of saturated fat?! If you’re going to be eating that you may as well stop at your nearest McDonalds and order 3 Quarter Pounders. Scary but true.

Junk Food May Lead to Depression

junk food may lead to depression

Scoffing down that cheese burger or polishing off the last of those fries may make you feel satiated for now, but it could lead to depression later down the line. A new study shows that individuals who eat too much junk food tend to manifest depressive symptoms.

The study, which was published in the November issue of The British Journal of Psychiatry, noted that of the 3 486 male and female participants who ate the most high-fat foods, 58% were more likely to display signs of depression 5 years later. Dr Eric Brunner, one of the researchers, told The Daily Mail that diet seems to play an independent role in an individual’s mental health when taking exercise and lifestyle into consideration.
