It’s hard to imagine that the above photo (on the left) is the former Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue cover girl, Kathy Ireland. In the latest issue of People Magazine Kathy said that she couldn’t believe it herself when her son showed her the picture.  She explained,

“He said ‘Mom, you look pregnant.’ I didn’t recognize the person I saw. I saw someone who looked overwhelmed, overstressed, overweight, over-everything.”

Kathy tells how she put on the extra 25 pounds in her latest book called, Real Solutions for Busy Moms, a book that examines why mothers tend to put other people’s needs in front of their own needs.  She said,

“I was not making enough time to take care of me.”

Obviously, Kathy, now at the age of 46, has gotten back on track and she looks just as good as ever. (See photo on right)   She now makes healthy food choices, cuts down on snacks and dessert and exercises three times a week.  When asked if she wants to get back into a bikini like she did during her modeling days she said,

“No, that’s not my goal.  I want to be healthy, to be there for my husband and my kids.”
