It seems that actress Katie Holmes is featured in the tabloids every couple of days.  One day it’s healthful yoga, another day it’s skinny and stressed out, and now it’s all about detox with some unsightly side effects.  Over the weekend she was seen going out for dinner with husband Tom and daughter Suri and to say she looked frail is an understatement.  

Katie is currently filming the movie The Extra Man and she again blames the demands of movie making that is leaving her so lethargic and thin.  This is what she also said while she was on Broadway in the play All My Sons.

Apart from all of the work, she is also in the middle of a strenuous detox diet as she is in preparation for having another baby.  A source tells the Daily Mail that Katie is practicing the teachings of the Scientology Second Dynamic, a book that advises on conception and marriage.  Accordingly, husband Tom is encouraging her to stick to the detox diet as he too hopes to have another baby with Katie.  According to a source at the Daily Mail,

‘Tom’s encouraging her to stick to the diet because they are hoping to conceive baby number two.”

The detox diet that Katie is following consists of herbal drinks and a purification procedure to eliminate toxic substances.  This detox diet plan can make one rather listless and this is why she supposedly didn’t go to the Oscars ceremony a couple of weeks ago.

“Katie has almost rid her body of toxins but sometimes it makes her lethargic,” a source told the Daily Mail.

However, when you consider the weeks and months that this has been going on, something just doesn’t add up.  Detox diets don’t last that long and I’m wondering why all of the other Hollywood celebrities don’t get tired and lethargic when they are in the midst of making a film.

The media has been buzzing as of late wondering what is going on with Katie Holmes’ tiny frame.  Some say it’s because she spends too much time with bone-thin  Victoria Beckham, and then others claim it’s because she has a rather demanding and eccentric husband, Tom Cruise.  Katie had enough of the media blitz and she told Hello! Magazine that she’s lost weight because of her demanding role on the Broadway show All My Sons.

“My metabolism was in full gear the whole time,” she tells Hello! “I lose weight fast when I’m working so hard. It doesn’t matter how much I eat, I just get thin. It’s not the worst problem in the word to have, though, now is it?” she adds.

However, the Broadway show is long over and during the past month while she’s been touring with husband Tom promoting his new movie Valkyrie, it seems that she just keeps getting thinner each time we see her.

The latest speculation from Hollywood, where celebrity weight is a spectator sport, is that Posh is making her new found celebrity pals Katie Holmes and Eva Longoria lose weight. An “insider” reveals to In Touch magazine, “everyone around Posh seems to be getting thinner.”

After getting weight loss tips from Posh, best pal Katie Holmes appears to have lost weight around her hips since the birth of her daughter Suri. And Eva Longoria, who used to say she loved to eat, was seen out with Posh at Chateau Marmont and barely touched her food.

That Posh is influencing her new found A-list Hollywood pals to be as thin as she is, is entirely plausible. A recent study revealed that obesity is contagious, when one person gains weight their friends tend to gain weight too. Less widely reported is that this study also found the same “friends” effect for weight loss.

When in Hollywood, this adds a whole new meaning to the expression “it’s important who your friends are.”
