<p><em>The Hills</em> reality star, <a href="http://www.celebritydietdoctor.com/?s=lauren+conrad">Lauren Conrad</a> has shown us over the past year how working out really does pay off.  She always looks healthy and confident and she maintains a good body weight.  Here recently, her trainer Jarret Del Bene told <em>In Touch Weekly</em> Magazine that Lauren is not only doing her traditional kickboxing routine, but now she also does Body Box.</p>
<p><span id="more-2219"></span>Body Box is a full-body, high intensity workout that is based on a boxing circuit and considered to be a &#8216;boredom buster&#8217; when it comes to the monotony of working out.  It mixes punching, kickboxing moves, squats and other conditioning exercises.  Lauren does the workout two to four times a week.  Her trainer also said that she is currently following a healthy diet with a caloric intake of 1,200 to 1,500 calories a day that is portioned into five or six small daily meals.  That doesn&#8217;t seem like enough calories to maintain weight, that&#8217;s more of a calorie intake for those wanting to lose weight!</p>

Lauren Conrad has <a href="http://intouchweekly.hollywood.com/" rel="nofollow">reportedly</a> lost 10 pounds with the help of her trainer Jarett Del Bene.  With the increased popularity of <em>the Hills</em>, has come increased and sometimes unwanted scrutiny.  Lauren explains</p>

<p><strong>Lauren Conrad&#8217;s diet plan</strong><br />
Lauren has learned to break her pasta habit although she says it &#8220;was really hard.&#8221;  When &#8220;everyone wants to order pizza, I make them eat bean bowls (kidney, garbanzo and black beans with tomatoes).&#8221;  It helps that her roomie, Audrina Patridge, is on the same diet plan.  Her 1500 calorie-a-diet consists of 3 meals and 3 snacks.</p>
<p>Breakfast &#8211; Whole-wheat toast and peanut butter<br />
Lunch &#8211; Protein shake<br />
Snacks &#8211;  Almonds and apples<br />
Dinner &#8211; Lean fish and steamed vegetables</p>
<p><strong>Lauren Conrad&#8217;s Workout</strong><br />
Del Bene explains &#8220;Lauren really wanted to tone her arms and legs &#8211; she was happy with what she had, but she wanted to take it to the next level.&#8221;  Lauren&#8217;s workout includes circuit training 3 times a week (lunges, squats, push-ups, pull-ups and free weights).  Her other days are filled with cardio activities including hiking, running, and kickboxing.  She says &#8220;I love waking up early and going on an hour hike.  It&#8217;s the perfect start to my day.&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>Celebrity Diet Doctor weigh in&#8230;</strong><br />
Lauren is following a rather high protein diet.  I would recommend upping the fruits and veggies.  Remember not all carbs are bad!  Unprocessed fruits and veggies are good carbs that will help you lose a lot of weight.</p>

Lauren does 1 hour sessions of weight training and  treadmill work twice a week.  She incorporates 45 minute hiking sessions in LA&#8217;s Runyon Canyon when she&#8217;s not working out.</p>
<p>About her slim down Lauren says &#8220;The first place I lost weight was my little belly.  Now I&#8217;m happy about my arms because they were a little mushy!&#8221;  She adds &#8220;When I work out regularly and eat healthy, I feel better.&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>Celebrity Diet Doctor weigh in</strong><br />
Eating small meals throughout the day helps keep her metabolism up.  Her exercise regimen is not only sensible but realistic.  Many celebs endure &#8220;Navy Seal&#8221; type regimens when preparing for movies to get their bodies in top form.  Lauren manages to do the same with only 2 weekly strength training sessions.  It works for her because she is physically active hiking on her off days.  Lauren shows you can tone up by exercising smartly without spending all your time in the gym.</p>
