Marissa Winokur, the host of Dance Your Ass Off has always been on the heavy side. A few years ago she lost 60 pounds without any assistance and was able to keep it off. But after marriage and having a baby the pounds have slowly started to creep back and she needs some help in weight loss management. Over the past summer she chronicled her weight loss journey with People Magazine thinking that being in the public eye would help, but she still didn’t find much success with that.

Marissa Jaret Winokur Weight Loss

Tony Award winner Marissa Jaret Winokur spent the summer trying to lose weight before the Dance Your Ass Off reunion.  However, the 36-year-old didn’t quite meet her goal.  After a summer of ups and downs she has lost 15 pounds instead of the original 25 pounds that she had set as a goal.  She told E!,

“I didn’t lose as much as I wanted to by the time of the Dance Your Ass Off reunion, but I was like, ‘Maybe I can take off an extra five pounds just by straightening my hair…’ I ended up losing 15. I have 10 more to go. Sometimes I feel like, ‘Wow, I should make a TV series out of this. This is real.’”

Marissa Jaret Winokur Gets Diet Support

Tony award winner Marissa Jaret Winokur is on a mission to lose 25 pounds.  Over the summer we saw how she experienced the typical highs and lows when it comes to trying to lose weight, and even though she still hasn’t reached her goal, she’s trying her best.  This week at Ok Magazine they caught up with the star and asked how she’s coming along on the weight loss journey.  Marissa explained,

“I want to snack all the time. I like snacking. I like yummy food, and my husband eats whatever he wants, and he’s skinny, tall and handsome. He can eat whatever he wants. It’s hard because he’ll eat cookies, and I’m like [sarcastic] ‘great, let me enjoy this yummy salad.’ It’s no fun. It’s totally no fun.”

Marissa Jaret Winokur’s Stalled Diet

The weight loss journey that Marissa Jaret Winokur embarked upon at the beginning of the summer appears to be at a halt.  She did kindly admit in this week’s diet blog entry for People Magazine that she decided to “call in fat” (Similar to calling in sick.) for the week but it seems that most of her blogs discuss her diet failures over the past couple of months instead of her triumphs.
This week she said she took time off of the diet wagon to spend time with her son and her husband who has been off work for a few weeks.  She wrote,
“It was a lot of fun family time this past two weeks, but not good me time. I love my boys and am not complaining. I am just saying I had no time to exercise and I didn’t count a single calorie.”
Winokur also explained that she didn’t necessarily overeat but that wasn’t consciously thinking about her diet plan over the past week.  She ended by writing that she’s not throwing in the towel but she’ll soon be back at work after ‘calling in fat’ for a week.

Marissa Jaret Winokur Does Boot Camp Workout

Marisa Jaret Winokur is still on a mission to lose weight.  The host of Dance Your Ass Off has been working hard this summer to get into bikini body form.  But after more failures than triumphs she has decided to do it Boot Camp style; an intense workout that gets the heart rate going and calories melting off at the sound of the sergeant’s whistle.  She wrote in her diet blog with People Magazine,
“Boot camp seems to be good for me. It really had a good combination of weight training and cardio (jumping jacks and jump rope). Actually, the act of exercising at 6 a.m. really helped me. It made me not dread the workout part of my day all day long. Also, when I went to have a tiny cheat, I would really think back to how hard I worked and thought, ‘It is not worth going to boot camp an extra week over one peanut butter cup’”.
Always looking on the bright side, Marisa did joke a bit about all of the ‘crazy people’ who attend the 6am Boot Camp class.  She wrote,
“I found a cheap boot camp that was free for the first class. It was packed: I can’t believe how many people will wake up at 6 a.m. – crazy people, I tell you, lots of crazy people. It shocked me how much time was spent on our abs and arms and also how loud the music was. No teacher yelled at me but there was a crazy man that if we were told to “do 20″ he would scream “25!” and everyone cheered. I hated this man and prayed he would not be back the next day. He was.”
Marisa did continue on to write that she liked having her workouts done by 7am each day, but she’s hoping to find a yoga class at the crack of dawn instead of Boot Camp.

Marisa Jaret Winokur Falls Off The Diet Wagon

As we all know, when we’re on a diet we have good days and bad days, hills, valleys and even those times when it feels like your on the downhill course to utter failure.  Celebrities also have these issues and host of Dance Your Ass Off, Marisa Jaret Winokur, is no exception.  As she tries to battle the bulge she had one horrible week because of birthday planning and family guests who love to eat out.  She wrote in her diet blog,
“This week was spent planning for Zev’s [her son] first birthday – it started off bad and then it turned into a disaster! Every day I literally said, “Okay, tomorrow I will get back on track.” But tomorrow never came!”
One big mistake she did was leave out the candy for the party in her house for a whole week.  As she was planning she would nibble on the tasty chocolates and other treats.  In addition, because of having family in town she was wining and dining the whole time and didn’t find time to exercise.  She wrote,
“Because I had both my husband’s family and my family in town, there never was time to work out. NEVER. And we would eat out almost every meal! As the week progressed, it just got worse and worse till I finally just said, ‘Forget it – this week is a bust!’”
Now that the party is over, Marisa is having a hard time getting motivated to jump back on the diet horse, but hopefully she’ll be inspired soon enough.
“To be totally honest, all I want to do is sleep – I actually don’t WANT to work out. I feel horrible and scared to step on the scale. Life totally took over and if it weren’t for this blog, I would be wearing my PJs and staying in bed. BUT I am so thankful I have you guys to push me out of the OMG-I-messed-up-big-time funk and I promise myself and you to fix it this week. I still don’t want to work out but I will make myself. The sickest part is the leftover candy is still in my living room!!! OMG, I NEED AN INTERVENTION, FAST … or just a big garbage bag ;)

Marissa Jaret Winokur: A Mother’s Workout

Marissa Jaret Winokur has now entered week four in her quest to lose weight for her upcoming bikini photo shoot with People Magazine.  She’s making some progress and is doing lots of exercise on the treadmill as well as toting her son around which she compares to a Biggest Loser style workout.  She described in her blog the treadmill workout she does while son Zev is taking a nap.
“Thankfully, I have a TV in the room with TiVo so I wasn’t bored. I first watched Dance Your Ass Off (yes, a shameless plug!) and I ran as fast as I could while they danced. I used to do this with Dancing with the Stars and The Biggest Loser. It works great – the music takes my mind off of how boring the treadmill can be!”
She continues,
“I ran my fastest mile – I was so proud of myself! I don’t know what is considered fast but I was running at 6.0 and 7.0 and finished a mile in just under 10 min. (9 min. and 50 sec.) and that seemed really fast to me!”
Marissa also mentioned that she has learned to go to free online sites with calorie counters where you can plug in your food through out the day and get a total calorie count each evening.  This is a great way to stay on track and it definitely keeps you honest as it helps you spot strengths and weaknesses in your diet patterns.  And what about Marissa’s Biggest Loser workout?  Here’s what she had to say,
“And I was still able to work Zev into my workout day and my friend joined me! I put both of our kids in a wagon and pulled the 50 lbs. of baby around with us through the neighborhood. It was like a Biggest Loser challenge but a lot of fun working out with a friend and our sons!”

Marissa Jaret Winokur Struggles with Weight Loss

The host of Dance Your Ass Off, Marissa Jaret Winokur is on a mission to lose weight in order to do a bikini photoshoot for People Magazine.  She’s been hard at it, but this past week while promoting her show in New York City she is finding it hard to get in her daily exercise and resist temptation to eat fattening foods.  She wrote,
“My trip to New York City ended in disaster…..I brought my sneakers and exercise clothes with me so I could use the hotel gym. It was too late to work out on Saturday when I got in, Sunday I was busy and Monday … you get my drift. The only workout I did was carry my big sneakers through the airport!”
She went on to explain that although her exercise was put on the back burner her eating habits were admirable.
“BUT I was eating really healthy – I said NO to the bread basket every day and ordered salads with the dressing on the side. Never – I repeat never – did I even look at the New York pizza or the hot dog stands. Never did I stray from my goal! Never, that is, until my last night.”
And here’s what occurred her last night while in the Big Apple:
“I then went back to the hotel, ordered room service (a boring salad) and even put the bread outside the room so I wouldn’t be tempted. I called my husband and started to go to bed. Then, like a siren I heard the call of the minibar! Next thing I knew it was 2 a.m. and I had pretty much killed the minibar!!!”
Marissa is back home now and getting back into her weight loss routine.

Marissa Jaret Winokur: Dance Workout

Marissa Jaret Winokur, the host of Dance Your Ass Off, is hard at work trying to lose the weight in order to reveal her bikini-bod to the readers of People magazine.  Her weekly blog updates are intended to motivate both the readers and herself so that she her goal is always at the forefront of her mind.  This week, she mentioned she is hard at work exercising and she has been doing dance classes the Crunch Gym. She wrote,
“…. I danced my ass off and went to the “Dance Your Ass Off” class at Crunch gym! I worked out so hard that I was sore the next day. I felt the dance in every muscle of my body and cursed the teacher’s name. But I can’t wait to go back next week!!”
Marissa has also learned to shake up her home workout with some Beyonce tunes:
“Because dancing is way more fun then the treadmill, I downloaded the video of Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies” and started to learn her dance. Let me tell you, if I ever did that dance in a club I would still be a single lady!!! But what a workout! It was free and fun and it kept my son very entertained – it was like a real-life Muppet danced out of his TV and into the living room. It kept him and, sadly, my husband very amused for almost an hour.”
This week, Marissa is focusing on not nibbling on her child’s Spaghetti O’s and exercising every day of the week!

Marissa Jaret Winokur Sets Out to Lose Weight

Marissa Jaret Winokur has decided to make her weight loss journey public.  After she has gained weight over the past couple of years she has a new goal to appear in a bikini in People Magazine.  Likewise, she will be blogging her diet experiences once a week on the tabloid’s website and hopes to meet her goal by the end of the summer.  She wrote,
“I am back on track to fitting into my bikini before the END of the summer!!! There are temptations all over my house!!! I have an 11-month-old son, Zev, who loves those yummy gold fish that taste amazing at 3 in the morning, and a husband [Judah Miller] who can eat ANYTHING (it’s so not fair, but that’s a whole other blog). It’s so hard – Zev eats mac and cheese and I just share it! I need to clean out my kitchen!!”
She went on to explain that she’ll be replacing her fattening snacks with healthy foods:
“I am gonna clean my fridge out and re-stock it with healthy food!!!! It’s a total mess! I need more fruit and veggies. I am gonna clean my fridge myself and make a shopping list! I am not going to be a crazy dieter – I just want to get healthy again and feel good. Maybe you can join in and clean out your fridge and start the slow and steady journey with me……”
May Marissa reach her goal, and good luck! However, the fad for chubby celebrities to lose weight and then sport a bikini-bod be it in a magazine or on the television is old news.
