<p><a href="http://www.celebritydietdoctor.com/melissa-joan-hart-post-baby-diet-and-weight-loss/">Melissa Joan Hart</a> lost 42 pounds after her last pregnancy, and now that she is a contestant on <a href="http://www.celebritydietdoctor.com/dancing-with-stars-weight-loss/">Dancing with the Stars</a> she is bound to lose more weight.  She told OK Magazine that she is a bit nervous about showing off her legs in some of the short dresses but she hopes to lose a little bit of weight in order to feel comfortable in her costumes and get &#8216;dancer legs.&#8217; When asked if she wants to lose weight while on the show, she replied,</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I hope that happens! I lost a lot this summer, but your diet is just terrible when you move. You just don’t eat anything, and then it’s 3 p.m. and you’re like, “I’m starving! Pizza!” Bad stuff. So I’ve had to try to get it back on track now to get my energy up for dancing. Also, there’s definitely been too much coffee.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p><span id="more-5375"></span>Hart also revealed what she&#8217;s eating while on the show: She&#8217;s eating six small meals a day.  The morning starts with a protein shake with some banana and fiber to make it more filling and then meals such as chicken wraps or chicken tacos through out the day.  As for snacks she&#8217;ll have some almonds or rice milk and almond milk but she is sure to avoid starches and dairy.</p>

<blockquote><p>&#8220;I still read blogs about me discussing how fat I&#8217;ve become. Everyone still thinks I&#8217;m huge. But I&#8217;m not anymore!&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p><span id="more-2773"></span>Melissa explained that her actress friend, Jaime Pressly, as well as her mother were the ones who inspired her to get back into shape.  She said,</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;There are enormous pressures put on you in Hollywood&#8230;.I realized I didn&#8217;t have to be heavy just because I have kids.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Melissa exercised for 14 months to get back into shape.  She did so by working with nutritionist Derek Johnson at <em>New Metabolism </em>and she hit the gym with her trainer Mark Harari at P<em>ulse Fitness Studio</em>. She said,</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;It didn&#8217;t happen by magic – it was as hard for me as it would be for anyone else.  I didn&#8217;t want to take any time away from spending it with my sons.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>How does she feel now?</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I feel amazing!&#8221; she says. &#8220;I had to prove to myself that I could do it. I had to give it a go!&#8221;</p></blockquote>

<p><strong>Melissa Joan Hart Post Baby Diet</strong><br />
Her diet rules are: no refined sugars, no white starches, and protein with every meal. As far as sticking to her plan she admits that</p>
<blockquote><p>&#8220;I&#8217;m really disciplined in the morning. Lunch gets a little harder for me, then dinner&#8217;s when I get a little out of hand.&#8221; After a long day she says I&#8217;m tired and I&#8217;m just like &#8220;I want food.&#8221;&#8216;</p></blockquote>
<p>She does indulge in ice cream, chips and guacamole. Melissa reveals she is five pounds from her pre-pregnancy weight and her goal is to drop another 10 over the course of the year.</p>
<p><strong>Her Fitness plan</strong><br />
She works out 3 days a week with a trainer (she started this four weeks post birth, after getting the OK from her OB/GYN physician). Her workouts include 30 minutes of spinning and 30 minutes of floor exercises.</p>
<p>She says her secret to juggling 2 kids and a successful marriage to hubby, Mark, is that &#8220;after 8 pm is mommy and daddy time. We enjoy each other. There&#8217;s nothing we can get from someone else that we can&#8217;t get from each other. As long as we keep our communication open, we can easily work out any problem.&#8221;</p>
<p><strong>Celeb Diet Doc&#8230;.</strong><br />
Melissa&#8217;s done a great job getting back in shape. When she talks about &#8220;I just want food&#8221; she may be missing out on snacks which would help curb her cravings during the course of the day. Basically she needs to eat more of the right foods during the day so she doesn&#8217;t &#8220;fall off the wagon&#8221; with late night binge eating. The ice cream and chips are potential diet busters if she does not practice strict portion control.</p>
