Controversial PETA Ad is Just Plain Wrong

PETA has one great marketing team; they’ve clothed Cloris Leachman in a dress made of cabbage leaves and de-clothed Alicia Silverstone for a controversial nude PETA ad. However, their latest ad campaign on a Jackonsville Florida billboard doesn’t involve any celebrities but it has meat-lovers in a frenzy. The ad implies that obese women are like whales and if they go vegetarian they will be thin. The text reads as: Save the Whales. Lose the Blubber: Go Vegetarian.

Alicia Silverstone Writes Diet Book

Emmy and Golden Globe Award nominee Alicia Silverstone proclaimed her vegan/vegatarian status back in 2007 when she modeled for a risque PETA ad that was actually pulled from the Comcast line-up of commercials.  Over the past two years we haven’t seen much of her on the silver screen but she is currently writing a book titled, The Kind Diet: A Simple Guide to Feeling Great, Losing Weight, and Saving the Planet.  When she first started writing the book she said in USA Today that the book,

“explores the connection between what we put in our bodies and what we’re doing to the planet, and how choosing the right foods in the kitchen can help you feeling lighter, sexier, and more alive.”

Cloris Leachman: Vegetarian Diet

clorisADSThe long time vegetarian Cloris Leachman poses for PETA for the new campaign being launched called, Let Vegetarianism Grow On You.  In the photo above she’s wearing a dress made entirely of real lettuce.  The actress has been in the business for 60 years and most recently we’ve seen her dance into the hearts of America on Dancing with the Stars.  She accredits her good health and ability to keep up with the younger cast on the show to being a vegetarian.  The 82-year-old has been a vegetarian since she was 35 and it’s evident that being a vegetarian has kept her fit and healthy.
