She told <em>People</em> Magazine,</p>
<blockquote><p>“I don’t really diet. I kind of keep everything in moderation, exercise and eat right. I eat a lot of vegetables and lean meats, and I drink a whole lot of water.”</p></blockquote>
<p>The star turns 40 in March but she&#8217;s not too worried about it as she&#8217;s one who follows the philosophy that you&#8217;re only as old as you feel and she said she feels young at heart. She does however have regrets about not losing weight earlier in life. She said,<span id="more-8559"></span></p>
<blockquote><p>“I wish I had known more about nutrition and exercise and how really good it could affect you at a younger age. Then I would have kicked it up a lot sooner.&#8221;</p></blockquote>
<p>Overtime the actress has learned some valuable life lessons and these days she&#8217;s healthy, fit and happy with her body.</p>

The 39-year-old rapper, actress and singer once weighed 240 pounds, and says losing the weight was not about being skinny for her; it was more about getting healthier.<span id="more-7955"></span></p>
<p>While Queen Latifah hits the gym five to seven days a week (using the treadmill and elliptical machine) she still eats what she normally eats, just in smaller portions.</p>

I am also not a fan of processed food bars to lose weight as they will lead to weight gain if you don&#8217;t practice strict portion control.</p>

<p>The award winning singer and actress, followed in the footsteps of  actresses Kirstie Alley and Valerie Bertinelli when she became spokesperson for the weight-loss chain last year.<span id="more-790"></span></p>
<p>&#8220;We are proud of Queen Latifah&#8217;s achievements and are excited to continue the relationship,&#8221; says Scott Parker, vice president of marketing for Jenny Craig. &#8220;Queen Latifah embodies the healthy lifestyle principles and character that Jenny Craig stands for and we look forward to another great year.&#8221;</p>
<p>Latifah, 38,  said her goal was not “about getting skinny” but instead to achieve a healthy lifestyle and better overall health.  The singer-actress follows the Jenny Craig low calorie food plan and also works out five to seven days a week for one hour on  the treadmill or elliptical machine.</p>
<p>&#8220;My jeans are looser, I feel more energetic,&#8221; she said of her new diet. &#8220;People dig it. They come up to me and say &#8216;I&#8217;m glad you&#8217;re talking about the health side of it.&#8217; People get that message, which is important too.&#8221;</p>
<p>Latifah enjoys three Jenny&#8217;s Cuisine meals and one snack every day, with fresh fruit and vegetables.  The key to weight loss is a  healthy balance between Jenny&#8217;s Cuisine and your own grocery store foods – like fruit, vegetables, low fat dairy, whole grains and heart-healthy fats.</p>

<p>Congrats are in order for Queen Latifah. Although I wouldn&#8217;t recommend <a href="http://www.celebritydietdoctor.com/diet-food-delivery-ratings/">Jenny Craig</a> as a weight loss plan.Â  Jenny Craig will only work if you practice portion control as Queen Latifah reveals. Practicing portion control with a weight loss plan full of refined sugars is going to be hard to stick to for a number of reasons:</p>
<ul>
<li> refined carbs fuel hunger and cravings</li>
<li>refined carbs slow down your metabolism to a greater extent when you cut calories</li>
</ul>
<p>Kirstie Alley was not so fortunate and manage to <a href="http://www.celebritydietdoctor.com/kirstie-alley-weight-gain/">gain back a lot of weight on the Jenny Plan</a>..
