Fast food chains and weight loss companies are not supposed to get along, let alone collaborate. This week in New Zealand and Australia, Weight Watchers and McDonald’s have announced they are teaming up to offer weighted meals based on the Weight Watchers point system. Talk about a marketing ploy! In the past, Weight Watchers always offered their members a point system for typical fast food meals such as KFC, McDonald’s, Taco Bell, etc…

Now, the diet company will put their logo on three different McDonald’s meals that each add up to 6.5 Weight Watchers’ points. One of those meals are those greasy little chunks referred to as Chicken Nuggets.

Obviously, nutritionists are up in arms criticizing the diet company for encouraging the eating of fast food and criticizing McDonald’s for trying to pass their food off as a healthy eating option. What a shame.

If you’re on Weight Watchers or any other diet and you get a craving for some deep fried chicken buy some chicken breast and make your own. It may be fattening but at least it’s real chicken meat and not pumped with preservatives, chemicals and who knows what.

Celeb Diet Doc…
Nice marketing strategy. McD is hoping the Weight Watchers affiliation will have their customers feeling better about their purchases.. but that’s all it is. An insincere attempt to window dress their muffin top expanding, thunder thigh packing menu. Obviously don’t go to McDonalds if you are even half serious about losing weight. nuff said!

Weight Watchers International has had enough of the Jenny Craig weight loss ads that they see as misleading and deceptive. Weight Watchers decided to file suit after Jenny Craig released ads referring to a study that compared a typical Weight Watchers weight-loss program to a Jenny Craig pre-packaged meal system. Being that the two companies offer two very different types of dieting it makes sense that Weight Watchers isn’t happy about this, especially since the study supposedly doesn’t exist. In the ad Valerie Bertinelli is dressed in a lab coat and says,

“A major clinical trial [has shown that] Jenny Craig clients lost, on average, over twice as much weight as those on the largest weight-loss program [Weight Watchers]“

Another thing to consider is the fact that Jenny Craig is a unit of the Swiss company, Nestle, an enormous international conglomerate that makes anything and everything; from chocolate coco to diet salad dressing, their calories are countless. This means big dollars and big lawyers to handle the case. At the time Jenny Craig has made no comment but it will be interesting to see who wins this case in the diet world.

Jenny McCarthy has done it all, she was Playboy Playmate of the Year back in 1994, did some work on MTV and she’s even published a book on caring for children with autism. Now, considered to be one of the more solid-minded women in Hollywood, Jenny McCarthy was interviewed by Shape Magazine and divulged on how she has come to be who she is today. She said,

“In 2002, when my son, Evan, was born, I dialed back that whole sex-kitten thing. And then when I went public about his autism, I gained credibility as a passionate mom.”

In the May 2009 issue of Shape, Jenny reveals her detox dos and donts as well as a fifteen-minute yoga sculpting workout that Jenny swears is an incredible strength and stretch plan. In regard to dieting, Jenny opened up about how she lost the weight after having her son in 2002 when she weighed 211 pounds. She decided to turn to Weight Watchers, she said,

“They taught me portion control and to be conscious of what I put in my mouth.”

However, in 2003 when her son was diagnosed with autism, she did her research and shifted the family eating habits to a gluten and dairy free diet. This improved her son’s symptoms and also added to her weight loss. Now, a typical day consists of an egg white omelet for breakfast, fresh fruit and vegetables and plenty of fish for lunch and dinner.

The Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson has pledged to don a bikini and run on the beach to show people that they can still be fit and healthy at the age of 50. The Duchess will turn 50 next October so as of this week she began her training with the help of soccer legend David Beckham, whose management team found her a personal fitness trainer.

This one-time royal is now a motivational speaker and has a history of leading a healthy lifestyle. Before, she even served in the US as spokeswoman for Weight Watchers International.

For Fergie’s fit at 50 run she has mentioned Bondi Beach in Australia as a possible location claiming that Australians have no excuse not to be fit as they have great weather and great beaches for year-round exercise.

“I am going to come down and run along a beach at 50 and be football fit,” the Duchess said. ”So when I get to 50 on October 15th, I will be running down that beach, football fit in my small black bikini. When it happens, you will know about it. I’m having the world’s press there to see me football fit and then you can put me on a football ground and make me run up and down it.”

When it comes to health Fergie is shocked to think that cardiovascular disease is number one on the list of cause of deaths around the globe. She continues,

“Firstly, I hate the word obese … I think that everybody has to do it for their own lifestyle to realise their own health. They have to take things slowly and say, ‘I’m not doing this because I have to get into a pair of jeans, I need to do this because if I don’t I’m going to die of heart disease’.”

Sarah Ferguson has always been an inspiration to people all over the world and it’s wonderful to see that she has the goal to put lifelong fitness on the map at a global scale.

As any viewer of Rescue Me has noticed, Lenny Clarke lost a tremendous amount of weight. In fact, Lenny lost an astonishing 144lbs according to People Magazine. After a divorce and canceled TV series, Clarke went “out of his mind eating” going from 176 lbs to 380 lbs. Saddled with high blood pressure and difficulty breathing, his good friend, Dennis Leary who is also a writer and producer of Rescue Me, was concerned and told him “you’re gonna die.” Dennis Leary, became part diet coach, part motivational coach and told him if he had to lose weight for the show, how much could he lose? Lenny responded “100 lbs.” The weight loss plot line was developed which called for Lenny’s character, Tommy, to go to prison to “waste away.” It was now time for Lenny to get into character and lose the weight!

Lenny Clarke: Diet Plan
Lenny jokes it’s his “murder 1 diet” since his character was sent to jail for gunning down a drunk driver who killed his son. In reality Lenny joined Weight Watchers and began eating salads, fruit and fresh fish. Btw his wife, Jennifer, is a fishing boat captain so there was alwasy fresh fish around the house. Add to this his daily swimming and biking and you have Lenny Clarke’s recipe for weight loss success. He has his sights on a goal weight of 200 lbs, which is 36 lbs away.

Remarking on Lenny’s 144 lb weight loss, Dennis Leary says “I can’t believe there’s not a special weight-loss Emmy.”

Celebrity Diet Doctor weigh in..
Lenny Clarke “wasted away” by eating right and exercising daily. Salads, fruit with a little protein to curb your hunger is an excellent strategy to lose weight.

After losing 60 pounds of postpartum weight in 6 months on Weight Watchers, Jenny McCarthy signed on as their spokeswoman celeb in 2006. Currently dating funny-man Jim Carrey, she has continued to maintain the weight loss and is now a Weight Watchers “lifer” she tells US weekly. Not a fan of working out, although she does sporadic jogging and Tae-Bo, Jenny says “it’s what you put in your mouth that keeps your jeans fitting.”

Weight Watchers is essentially a calorie counting plan based on their proprietary points system. Like any standard calorie counting plan, you can basically eat anything as long as you stay within your alloted daily points. While Weight Watcher points are calculated from calories, fat and fiber ( the higher the calories and fat the more points, the higher the fiber the less points), the biggest factor in determining a points value for a food is far and away calories.

Jenny McCarthy’s Diet Plan
According to US weekly, a sample menu from her daily diet is: Watermelon for breakfast, Tuna salad for lunch and a 3 ounce steak for dinner.
