Tyra Banks Fat no more

Tyra is back and looking better than ever, since the infamous unflattering photos of her in a bathing suit created a firestorm on the tabloid and celebrity website circuit a couple months ago. Rumored to have tipped the scales at 170 lbs in December, she admitted having gained some 30 lbs since her modeling days. She went on a public relations blitz, appearing on the cover of People magazine and devoting a whole episode to the great “weight debate” on her Tyra Banks show. As these new photos reveal she is back in super-model form. How did she do it?
Discussing her weight gain on Extra in January, she admitted to enjoying an “IHOP breakfast, a burger or pizza for lunch and steak and some sort of sweet come dinnertime.” In the latest issue of In Touch weekly she reflects “I needed to take better care of myself.” Tyra’s diet and exercise plan for losing an estimated 30 lbs in five months and getting back in shape included:
- Hiring a chef to cook healthy meals.
- Cooking soup dishes for herself, from her favorite cookbook 400 Best-Ever Soups by Anne Sheasby. Losing weight with soup, is a diet tip also used by Cameron Diaz to maintain her starlet figure.
- Engaging in high intensity interval training which includes running and walking on a treadmill.
Way to go Tyra!

I think Tyra gave into the pressure of being thin. She looked volumptous at 170 pounds! She does preach a great message but watching her on America’s Next Top Model, I think she contradicts what she says she stands for. I think she used it for publicity and got her self together and got the weight off because she was chastised for it.
I love Top Model and it is so great to see that they actually have a real live plus size model this season. As for Tyra, I think she looks a little sickly here. Boooo. I understand that she felt like she was not taking care of herself and was getting a little heavier than what is comfortable for her own body. However, it is too bad that she couldn’t have chosen to lose 20 pounds instead of 30, keep just a little extra weight to fill out her face and curves, and strengthen her own message that Hollywood and the modelling industry go too far by defining beautiful as thin as if they are synonymous. They aren’t the same word. Shame on you Dr. Lawrence for saying that she looks better than ever — her skin doesn’t even look 100% healthy here. Booo, boooo, boooo.
Crystal- Sounds like you have an underlying medical condition. I think I have heard of people chewing ice because their body is extremely deficient in an essential vitamin or mineral. I want to say it’s iron. Get some help girl.
