Last month, model and TV show host Tyra Banks revealed her new body after losing four dress sizes (30 pounds). Over the past couple of years she was leaning on the chubby side but after hard work and dedication she looks like she’s ready for another Sports Illustrated Bikini Issue photo shoot. This week on her show she gets to the nitty-gritty of her weight loss secrets and the fact of the matter is that there was no crazy dieting involved. It was about her exercise plan and managing her eating habits. She says,
“This is a lifestyle change. It’s not about being skinny. It’s about getting in the best shape that you can be.”
During the show Banks confessed that she was having painful, chronic stomachaches that would have her in bed for days. So, she decided to enlist the help of a nutritionist to change her unhealthy habits into healthy ones. Nutritionist Heather Bauer had Banks keep a food journal to identify those foods that make her feel good and those that don’t. On the show this week, Bauer gives the audience some sample lunch and dinner menus and healthy fast food options. Banks chimes in,

what's the best way to lose weight and keep it off.
Eat less processed foods and more fruits and veggies. really as simple as that.
Great article Betsy. I agree that keeping a food diary is a very good way to lose weight. It's worked for me.
I've set up purpleweightloss.com, to provide people with an easy and free way to do the same.
hi tyra i watch your show all the time , i think it's realy good ,and i needs to lose lots of weight ——-thank you
I too have made a lifestyle change over the past 8 months or so. I really have no idea how much weight I have lost,as I have not focused on a number on the scale, but more the way I look in my clothes and most importantly, the way I feel. I have gone from a size 10 to a size zero, have muscle definition that I didn't have in my teen years, and feel GREAT. I am the mother of 4 kids, but don't "look" it anymore. My "secret," eat a handful of something good for me-fruits, veggies, lean meats, egg whites, whole grains, protein bars,or almonds 5-6 times a day, drink lots of water (it is an acquired taste). The muscle definition and inches really started coming off after joining a gym and doing 20-30 minutes of cardio (treadmill or elliptical) 5-6 times a week, and lifting weights. I am so proud of my accomplishments and getting those "looks" at my age is rather nice too. My very good friend told me once to do something good for myself-well, I did,and never will I go back to not treating "me" right.
Wow! thats great in 8 months from a size 10 to 0! Congrats, your story is trully motivating…I decided to loose weight too, mostly because I want to feel good about myself and bcz I loove clothes…I'll be going to the gym 4-5 times a week and I realy focus on eating lots of veggies, fruits and whole grain…I hope I will see results soon. My b-day is in August and I really wish to look different by then.
I have a question, did you still eat non healthy food like cookies, cake, ice cream during your diet…?
Oh,and I don't starve or avoid "bad" foods all together. I still eat fried chicken, pizza and hamburgers (on Arnold Thins) when we have them for supper,or I want them-which really isn't often. I had a piece of cake the other day and felt no guilt for my "cheat." If I can do this,ANYONE can. Good luck to all those embarking on being a better, healthier you!

Best post Mr. Mark $)
I lost weight by not doing diets. In my 20's I used to do laxatives and ate only boiled eggs to keep my size 2 figure. Still trying to understand that one myself. But now that I am in my 40's, was in a car accident and ended up gaining weight because I got injured. A friend intoduced me to a Wellness company that has reshaping garments that helped me lose the weight without starving, counting calories, exercising or surgery.
I used to wear a size 14 in women's and now down to a 5/6. Alot easier for me, I can wear the garment as much as I want doing household chores and even wear it to work, it is lightweight, can't see it under my clothes. This is for the ones who get in the rut and seem like the weightloss stops. Everyone is different on how to lose weight. I drop sizes in 10 minutes.
the reshaping garment sounds interesting. Please email me the information about the reshaping garments from the Wellness company. Thank you. yayala1188@yahoo.com
