ViPR: New Fitness Craze for 2010
2009 was the year of the Shake Weight, the Power Plate and the dance craze Zumba for those trying to stay in shape. But now in 2010 there’s already a new product on the market; the ViPR, pronounced ‘viper’. The gadget is one meter high and made of rubber and it’s available in sizes from 10 pounds to 45 pounds.
It’s considered a replacement for several pieces of equipment such as dumbbells, kettlebells and medicine balls because it’s so versatile. The ViPR can be carried, dragged, thrown, flipped, rolled and stepped on which means this thing can take a beating and whip you into shape at the same time. A spokesperson for Virgin Active said that the ViPR works well because it works out various muscle groups at once instead of focusing on an isolated area. He said,
“Isolation training doesn’t often exist in real life because it’s too inefficient and ineffective – the body and its parts would wear out far too quickly,” he added. “The body is designed to spread forces and stress out into the system, through each joint and tissue in the body.”
The unique design of the ViPR allows for whole body movement and constant resistance training to get the optimal workout.
