Women’s Running Shoe Adjusts for Changing Arch Support During Time of Month?

by Betsy on Celebs on February 12, 2010

Athletic shoe company Asics has come up with a brilliant new running shoe for the ladies of the exercise world. It’s about time! The ASICS Women’s Gel-Kayano 16 Running Shoe has been designed to change its shape depending on the woman’s hormone levels.

Research has shown that fluctuating estrogen levels affect the flexibility and the height of the foot’s arch. So when a woman’s levels are at their highest and she’s fertile the arch drops. Then, during menstruation the estrogen levels are low and the arch is higher. Likewise, a woman will be running differently through out the month.

The new ASICS Women’s Gel-Kayano 16 Running Shoe shoe has three layers below the arch. Furthest from the foot is a plastic block, followed by an air-filled gap and then closest to the foot is foam. So, when the woman’s arch is low the foam will compress into the gap but when arches are high the foam fills out to support the arch. Available in white, gold and black.

What an innovative idea.
